Lap car in the way for the win at Prescott Valley Raceway.
August 2nd 2008
The Previous weekend at Canyon Speedway Park Alex Stafford made the baby
motor the could knock on the door for the lead. Second row inside was the starting
position for Alex, after three restarts she put the pedal to the metal and continued to
race to second and challenge for the lead held by Scott Gunn. Canyon Speedway
turned out to be a one lane track making it difficult to pass. Alex by far had the fastest
car of the night, just could not get the middle line to work to pass for the lead. Still in
second and five laps remaining Alex was taken out by the third place car causing a red
flag on the front straight away. Alex was put to the back of the field finishing tenth
place. “She did everything in her power to win that race, some of the best racing, she
put on show” was said by many fans. Father Jeff stated after the race “That was some
of the best driving I have ever seen”

Just when you think the excitement is over Alex races just as hard at Prescott
Valley Raceway. Only main events, no heats races. Alex received the starting position
in the second row inside. At the drop of the green the outside front row car #73 and
the #40s car pulled away from the field within a lap Alex and the leader at over a
straight away lead.
After many yellow flags, Alex and the leader would pull away every restart. Alex was right on the
back bumper trying to make a pass waiting for one mistake. Coming off turn four the #40s car got
loss and turned to the inside wall Alex had a great save and only the back of the car hit the wall not
causing any damage. Still in second but lost ground on the leader, Alex quickly found the high line
and chased down the leader. She found herself side by side with the leader just before the checker
line a wreck occurred which caused a caution. The scorer's go by the last completed green lap, which
put a lap car in between the leader and Alex with three laps remaining. The lap car did not get out the
way, which ended the chances of winning, finishing second. I really wanted the win; we will try again
next weekend. I have to thank my dad he makes the car fast and put's alot of work into the car” stated
Alex in victory lane. “Alex will be in the winners circle soon” said by track promoter Sandy. Prescott
